As the internet grows more and more people want to begin participating in sites rather then just being an observer. People absolutley love the fact that they can get their voices heard online.

User generated sites over the years have just exploded, I mean look at the likes of Digg and Twitter they are all huge sites. The thing about user generation is that it makes sites increase chatter which then increases their brand.

All of this is also good for SEO. We all know that search engines strive on content its what they live for. A webmaster realises that it can be quite difficult to actually place unique content onto a site everyday, but user generated content allows your visitors to publish unique fresh content in real time.

There are also numerous other ways in which this can help your SEO efforts. As an example the sheer amount of pages that get indexed will just explode, plus you will have a much better overall linking structure. If you know how to take advantage or site structures and breadcrumb trails then you could definitely be well on your way to top rankings.

If you are trading online and do not establish yourself as a user generated site then you could end up missing out. The internet has become the voice of people and people want to be heard. If you are having trouble with thinking about out of the box ideas, sometimes there is no need even a basic forum or WordPress MU blog can propel your site to new heights.

How to Create Unique Content For Your Blog

June 18th, 2009

The common element to all blogs and websites which have become popular is that they provide well-written content which is useful, informative or entertaining. If you want your site to build a large and loyal audience, you have to keep people interested by giving them this kind of material – but this can take up a lot of your time; how do the popular sites do it? What do they know that you don’t?

The best way would be to provide the content yourself, and this is of utmost importance if your goal is to try to create traffic to an affiliated link. You’ll definitely want to sell the idea about the services and products beforehand. What that will do is set the stage or the “mood” and give your recommendations authenticity.

Creating content which covers the product or service along with your own personal opinion about its merits is a good way to lay the groundwork to make your readers more receptive to the idea of making a purchase. A particularly effective method is to use anecdotes drawn from your personal experience with the product.

The fact is that a lot of us just don’t have enough hours in the day to keep writing enough new content to keep our websites regularly updated. If you have this problem yourself, then you can examine using private label articles instead. These articles can be purchased and if you’d like to get the maximum use out of this material, you can split them into pieces and make a few articles out of one.

Another method many bloggers use is RSS feeds. While these can keep your site updated very easily, many bloggers and webmasters have not begun to use it since this uses content which is from other sites and therefore not unique – and readers can click on these links and navigate away from your site.

Writing your own content is unquestionably the best thing to do. You can get ideas for posts or articles from news sources – when you find an interesting story, you can write a piece summarizing the article. It takes some practice to produce compelling content from these outside sources, but with time you’ll be able to position yourself as a valuable news source to your readers. If you just don’t have the time or think your writing skills are not up to the task, then you can hire a writer or a writing service to handle producing your content for you. There are even blog services out there which specialize in writing new, unique content and posting it on your blog daily. You can specify the topics you want covered. Having professionally written, high quality content can bring you an increase in traffic (and if you’re an affiliate marketer, commissions) which will more than make up for the cost of the service.

These are the best ways to generate content for your blog. It is advisable not to be going with the automated path. If you do decide to do that, you will probably have plenty of content- but the substance of the text is unlikely to increase traffic for you. Putting in some good, old-fashioned content work will yield better results for you. As the expression goes- “you get out what you put in….”!!

How To Get Maximum Exposure On An Article Directory

To get the maximum benefit from any web marketing effort, you need to pay attention to both the advertising side AND natural search engine traffic. Web advertising is much easier as there are many advertising firms that can create compelling copy for the advertising. An often ignored area, or at least undervalued, is building up natural search engine traffic. One of the main reasons is it is harder to build up content around each desired keyword and can encompass a lot of effort. Once this is done properly, your website will get built in traffic daily without spending a dime on it, and best of all this traffic source is long term and permanent. Using an article directory can be an important part of this endeavor and should be utilized for maximum impact.

Using an article directory allows users to post content related to their website, and include links in this content back to their site. The search engines love article directories and consider some of them an authority source. Ignoring this source of possible links is not a good idea. While it might seem to be a pain to write so much content and submit it over time, in the long run it really pays off.

To get the maximum benefit from using an article directory, you need to be able to spin your content. What the heck is spinning anyway? Its really very simple. It simply uses a computer program to auto substitute words and sentences randomly in place of what is written. So you might write “The dog is brown”. If you wanted to spin this, you could also say “The dogs fur is brown in color” or “The dogs fur is black”. All of the sentences are saying the same thing in a slightly different way – the general content remains the same, only minor details are changed. Doing this with your articles can actually create huge amounts of “new” content from a single article you write. Sure you have to provide the alternatives to substitute with, but then a computer does all the rest. This will give you maximum impact and protect you from getting penalized by the search engines for duplicate content submitted to article directories.

Altering the content around a main article allows someone to submit the content to many different article directorires and not have to worry that the same exact content is being submitted.

Sure a few of the same article is fine, but you dont want 200 copies of the exact article submitted all over the web.

Use An Article Directory To Get Good Exposure

Using an article directory to market your articles is a great way to get backlinks and additionally market your brand and image. One really negative thing you do not want to do is to send out a bunch of poorly written articles, or junk that does not make sense but links to your site.  This usually backfires in the long run, and makes anyone reading it far far less likely to ever click on the link and visit your site.No clickthu leads to no conversions for anything you might be trying to accomplish.

Make sure you write and submit a quality article, because most article directories have manual screening methods to filter out junk that is not up to speed.  This keeps out a ton of junk and spam – and probably your article too, if you do not do a good job in the writing department.  Keep in mind the target audience for your article for each article directory and it will help you write it in the best manner.

You should have 5-7 article directories in mind for every article you write.  In addition, if you get some software to assist you, you can spin each article into maybe 10 individual articles that are uniquely different and get more mileage out of each article.  Basically “spinning” allows a computer to substitute sentences on output so it might have an A, a B and a C choice for each sentence. It will mix and match sentences randomly based upon the choices it has when you set it up.

The more articles you write, the more backlinks you will get to your site.  In addition, the quality article directories will have decent page rankings which is always a big help in and of itself.  Some article directories are a hub for others looking for content for their sites, so you get additional mileage here as well.

Methods to Get Traffic To Your Site

May 22nd, 2009

No matter how good a writer you are, or how creative your site is, without any traffic it does not matter.Fancy graphics and flash do not matter if no one actually comes to your website to view them.  Traffic is always the end game for anyone trying to publish ads or sell anything on the web.  It seems like its a mystery to most, as most products sold on the web focuses on content, PPC (which is not bad, but also very hard to get right), or management products to help with productivity.  Very few actually work on where the heck you get traffic from.

The number one source of free traffic will come from natural search engine ranking, and the consistency is hard to beat.  Why?  Once you build your site up on a few keywords that get decent search volume, this traffic will be consistent.  PPC or other methods are fine, but are also subject to other risks that must be managed.  Basically you need links and content - this is the key to getting higher rankings on Google.

One way to get links is through  submitting niche articles related to your site to an article directory.  Once you decide on what type of site you want to build to either sell stuff OR just do adsense revenue, its a good idea to write at least 20 articles (300-500 words).Make sure you have signed up for an Adsense and Adwords account before you write any articles, even if you have no plans to use them.Google has several great free tools for doing keyword research.  You don’t need to spend days researching keywords BUT you really need to pick 3 or 4 keywords to focus on for your articles that get decent traffic in the search engines and are related to your topic.  Another tool you can use that is free is PPC Web Spy (just google it) – it allows you to see what keywords people are bidding on for their PPC ads on Google – again, they have probably done extensive work since they are paying for the ad clicks – no reason you cannot just benefit from their work and use some of those keywords.

Once you have done this, make sure you write at least 5 articles using 2 of the researched keywords as links to your site.  Do not try to tackle too many keywords at once - you need about 200-300 links realistically for each keyword to move up - depending on how popular they are it may take more.  This is where any article directory comes in handy.  You can submit your article which is then redistributed for you to others looking for content.  This makes getting links much easier and faster, but does take a bit of time for it to propagate.  In addition, you may want a tool to help rewrite your articles so that many different versions are distributed to thousands of sites.  This is a key to quicker ranking on the engines as the same thing distributed over and over just does not do the trick.

In addition to article writing, you will want to submit your site linnk to all the major social networks like Digg, Facebook, StubleUpon, MySpace, and others.  The more the better. You will need to create an account at all of them - this can be time consuming but only needs to be done once. You can do a search on Google or other engines for a list of the major ones.Once this is done, you can also use tools to automate posting to all of your accounts at once which saves a huge amount of time.

Most stuff you want to do on the web can be found for free, but the key is free vs time saved by paying for tools to help automate stuff.I usually opt for the time saving tools - in the long haul its really worth it as you can accomplish so much more. There is always a trade off of time saved vs paying for this saved time. Some things I accomplish with completely free tools, others I pay a monthly fee to use because of the amount of time saved so I can get more done.

Of course there is more than these 2 steps - but if these 2 are only done you should start seeing results in about a month.  Longer term, even once you get ranking, you need a plan to continually feed articles to directories – not as often as the beginning, but you really want to do at least 1 per month per keyword to keep fresh links coming into the search engines.Over longer periods of time, the existing links that get distributed disappear as sites go offline or content is replaced.  Once you get a stable of articles written, often you can just do a complete rewrite of an older article and then submit that again - its often faster than rewriting a new article.
