Indications of a transmission problem

The transmission is one of the most expensive parts of a car to be repaired. Most cars are built well nowadays. But it will be broken over time and it is vey expensive to fix.So you should always see to it that you regularly maintain your transmission. With that in mind let’s look at some signs of transmission problems.

First thing that can signal a problem with the transmission is by looking at the fluids. With a dipstick you can check if there are signs of a leak in your fluid levels. If you find that the fluid is low it could be a sign of a leak.  If the fluid is dark or has a burnt smell that is a sure sign of problems. So to be sure that your car does not suffer any major problems with the transmission make sure that you check your fluids regularly. If you find any of these signs take it into a auto repair shop.  I catch a lot of transmission problems early in my Escondido transmission repair shop with these signs alone.

Another sign of a problem of your transmission would be when there is a delay when you are shifting it into drive. If you shift it and it does not get into gear immediately then that’s a sign of a problem. That problem is called as the delay of engagement. This is a sign of a worn out transmission problem but there can be other causes. I have all my clients take it into my Escondido auto repair shop anytime they get the delayed engagement problem.

And last sign would be when the gears are jerky when shifting it while driving.  All shifting should be smooth with no slipping. This would be the sign that your transmission is worn out because every time you shift gear your car jerks. I catch a lot of problems early in my Oceanside transmission repair shop when this happens.By detecting problems earlier, a customer can save more money instead of spending it on repairs.

Have your car’s transmission undergo regular checkup

Cars now have more durable materials as compared before.Even cars that are considered a sub-par car before last longer these days. But there would still be problems even though cars right now are more durable than the old ones.  One of the biggest problems a car can have is a transmission problem.  Not only is it one of the biggest problems but it can also be one of the most expensive.

So here are some things to look for that I have learned running my Escondido transmission repair company.First thing you should do is to maintain the level of your fluids at a good level or, better yet, fill them up regularly. If you do forget or intentionally do not do this then your transmission would be burnt up in no time.So always carry around your dipstick for you to be able to check the fluid levels of your car.Be sure it is at a stable level.

Second while you are checking it you want to check to see if it is dirty.  A dirty transmission fluid could be signs of a problem.Have your car checked immediately if you see any black fluid or if it already dirty.  I get cars in all the time at my Oceanside transmission repair shop that have this problem. But in bringing in their cars early for checkups they were able to avoid more expensive repairs or replacements.

So if you decide to do the maintenance yourself you should be cautious. In changing the fluids of your car be sure that you bought the correct type of fluid for your transmission.  You would be surprised but it does happen where people put in the wrong type of fluid. If someone accidentally does this mistake then the transmission of his/her car would burn up in no time.So make sure to put the right kind when changing your fluids.  I tell all my clients of my Escondido auto repair shop when in doubt just have professionals do it for you.It makes sense because this part of your car is very expensive to replace.

So if you look for these few things you can save your transmission.  Doing this only takes a few minutes but can save thousands.
