How to tell if a transmission is failing
The transmission is one of the most expensive parts of your to replace. Sometimes replacing the automatic transmission is more expensive than replacing the car. With that in mind it is important for car owners to make sure to care for it. One way you can do that is by paying attention to what’s happening to your car. What I mean is there are signs that will alert you if the transmission is going bad. Because prevention is better than repairing a full blown damage.
First sign you can look out for is any leaking. A lot of times I have cars brought into my Escondido auto repair shop where the problem started with a simple leak. What you are looking for is any red leaks. If you find any red fluid leaking from your car then that is your transmission fluids. And if your transmission is low on fluids damages can happen. If you see any red fluids leaking from your car immediately fill your car with more transmission fluids. Then go and take it to an auto repair shop so that the leak will be fixed.
Another thing that you must be on the watch for are noises and vibrations coming from the transmission of your car. From my experience running my Oceanside transmission repair shop those noises are a sign of a couple of things. It could be an indication of low fluid level.Or there is also the possibility of damaged transmission cables. Immediately have your car looked at for those problems.
Last thing that you should be on the lookout for is an overheating transmission. That is the biggest hint of a problem with your transmission. I see all the time cars brought into my Oceanside auto repair shop that had that problem. Most of the cars were brought in too late. So, instead of just having a minor repair it became a major repair.
So by looking out for those signs you can avoid expensive repairs. It is simple to do and can save you money.
